Wilkins: Lampard would be better if headed to MU

Frank Lampard is still proving his prowess as helping Chelsea win 2-1 versus Everton at Goodison Park. Former Chelsea assistant manager Ray Wilkins believes Sir Alex Ferguson will get a valuable power at Manchester United if they want to accommodate Frank Lampard next summer.

"He was fantastic against Everton, is not it? In the 13 games he played, he had packed six touchdowns. Was the club's decision to release it - it has nothing to do with Rafa Benitez - and in my opinion it was the wrong decision. You need older players to show them that young, what does it mean for Chelsea, "he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.

According to Wilkins, the Red Devils are a perfect destination for Lampard.

"He is a free, four years younger than Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes, and can score from the middle. This season he scored more goals than the combination of Michael Carrick, Tom Cleverley and Scholes. He still has two or three more seasons. He did not will appear in full each week, but if he became a starter in 20 games he was able to give United's seven goals, "he said.
