City, Second British champion So Interpreter Lock in Champions League Group Phase

Dortmund - status as the Premier League champions, Manchester City stumbled in the group phase of the Champions League and finished as caretaker. Before them, there were other teams that a similar fate.

City has certainly failed to advance to the last 16 of the Champions League Matchday 5. A 1-1 draw against Real Madrid make them not be able to be champion or runner-up group.

Although already eliminated from the Champions League, there is still hope to keep competing in European competition. The Citizens will finish in third place and get tickets for the Europa League Matchday 6 when beating hosts Borussia Dortmund and Ajax Amsterdam at the same time did not win over Real Madrid.

But that hope was finally dashed. City lost 0-1 to even the match in Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday (05/12/2012) pm dawn. Ajax at the Santiago Bernabeu defeat did not mean anything.

City to end their work in the group phase as caretaker of Group D. They never once won and collected just three points from six games.

Opta noted, the City is not the first English team to win a victory in the group stage in Champions League history.

Meanwhile, Infostrada Live writes that the City is the second British champion, who finished bottom of the group phase. The team's previous experience is Blackburn Rovers (championship season 1994/1995) in the season 1995/1996.
