Madrid - Real Madrid will lose a number of players backing the game against Ajax Amsterdam. But that did not make Los Merengues set a target other than a win.
Champions League Matchday 6, Madrid will host Ajax at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday (12/05/2012) pm dawn. This game will not affect anything to Madrid because they have already qualified for the round of 16 as the runner-up in Group D.
For that reason, coach Jose Mourinho will rest some core players, including captain Iker Casillas. However, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema will still appear.
"(Antonio) Adan, nachos, Cristiano, Benzema, (Sami) Khedira and (Fabio) Coentrao will be in the starting line-up. (Sergio) Ramos and Xabi Alonso will not play because they pocketed the yellow card and I want them to appear in the first game of the next round, "said Mourinho on the official UEFA website.
"I expect a good game and without pressure to Adan and nachos, as well as for (Denis) Cheryshev, Jose Rodriguez, and (Alvaro) Morata to be there on the bench waiting for an opportunity," he continued.
Although it will play a couple of reserve players, Madrid still want to satisfy their fans who packed the stands Bernabeu. The victory became a prime target.
"We need to approach every game with the same concentration and ambition because every game has the same meaning. We have to play with a passion for winning in our minds," said Mourinho.
"Of course, we will try to win. Ajax will fight for a place in the Europa League and we must do our best," he said.
