List of nominations for the award striker FIFA FIFPro World XI 2012 is released, putting Barcelona star Lionel Messi and Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is on the top.
There are 15 names players worthy of consideration in this award, besides the two players mentioned above, there is also Sergio Aguero, Edison Cavani, Radamel Falcao, and Robin Van Persie.
Mario Balotelli, Karim Benzema, Neymar, Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Didier Drogba also on the list. Bayern Munich star is often injured, Mario Gomez, was also considered. Luis Suarez and Samuel Eto'o also count.
Interestingly, the list is no player who currently plays in the Italian Serie A, except Ibrahim who had played at AC Milan before moving to PSG in the summer. None of the Dutch Eredivisie striker too.
There are 50,000 professional players who are members of FIFPro asked to provide confidential voting. Each player was asked to choose for each category, the best goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders, and strikers for 2012.
The announcement of the final World XI will be conducted concurrently with the show Ballon d'Or on January 7, 2013.
